Giants Winter Ball Roundup: 11/8/2011

Crawford's streak survives -- barely. Giants relievers continue to dominate the AFL. Monell has a huge night in Puerto Rico.

Games played Monday, November 7.

ARIZONA FALL LEAGUE - Scottsdale 4, Salt River 9

Brandon Crawford -- who may very well be playing himself into the everyday shortstop position for the 2012 Giants -- extended his hitting streak to 14 games on Monday. As Brian Sabean put it, "He's done nothing to hurt his chances." Heading into the bottom of the ninth 0-for-4 with a strikeout, Brandon came up with an RBI single on a grounder through the right side to keep the streak alive. On the year he's hitting .309 (21-for-68) for the Scorps.

Austin Fleet pitched two shutout innings of relief on Monday, allowing two hits and a walk while striking out a pair of Salt River batters. The 24-year-old hurler lowered his ERA to 2.57 in nine appearances.

Seth Rosin also pitched two shutout innings out of the 'pen, but he was much more economical, retiring all six batters he faced. Rosin struck out two of those batters, and dropped his ERA to a pretty 1.00.
