Games played Friday, November 4.

ARIZONA FALL LEAGUE - Scottsdale 9, Phoenix 2

Brandon Crawford went 2-for-5 on Friday with a solo home run -- his second of the fall -- to extend his AFL hitting streak to 13 games. During the streak Crawford is hitting .339 (20-for-59). On the fall campaign he's hitting .317 (20-for-63) with two doubles, two triples, two home runs, 10 runs scored and 8 RBI. The flashy young infielder has not gone hitless in a game since October 5th.

Overall Crawford has played very well for the Scorps, but it's not all roses. The UCLA product has made four errors in the field, and his K/BB ratio of 13/2 is still a minor cause for concern.

Joe Panik also hit well for the Scorps, going 2-for-4 with an RBI on Friday. The 21-year-old infielder broke the .300 mark for the first time this fall: he's now hitting .308 (20-for-65). Joe has three straight multi-hit games, and has hit safely in 11 of his last 12 contests, going 18-for-47 over that stretch. Since October 13th, the red-hot St. John's product has added almost 200 points to his batting average.

DOMINICAN WINTER LEAGUE

Brandon Belt had another workman-like night for the Leones del Escogido. Belt had a hit in three at-bats, walked twice and struck out once. The big left-hander has been steady, but not great, so far this winter. In 15 games, Brandon's average is .286 (16-for-56) with four doubles, a homer and five RBI to go with eight walks and 11 strikeouts.

We were hoping Brandon would light it up a bit more in the DR, but it's also important to keep in mind that he may be tiring a bit after a very long season. It's also worth noting that he's seeing a ton of breaking stuff, which he had some trouble with in 2011. The numbers aren't hugely important -- Brandon is adding experience to the resume.

Francisco Peguero was penciled in as the center fielder on Friday for the Gigantes del Cibao, but apparently he didn't even get a single at-bat. Peguero has seen very limited action this week, riding the pine since going 2-for-3 on Sunday. He could perhaps be battling an injury or an illness. We'll keep an eye on the situation.

Osiris Matos retired two batters on Friday, one by way of strikeout, for the Toros del Este. Matos, a 27-year-old native of the DR, has made six relief appearances this winter, throwing four innings and allowing only three hits, a walk and one run while striking out five. Opposing hitters are managing a .200 average off Matos, whose ERA stands at 2.25.

David Quinowski made a couple of appearances this week for the Gigantes del Cibao, tossing 1.1 innings and not allowing a run, while surrendering one hit and one walk. The 25-year-old left-hander from San Bernadino, CA has made five appearances in the DR this winter, all in relief, and has posted an ERA of 4.05.

MEXICAN PACIFIC LEAGUE

Tyler Graham went 1-for-4 with a triple on Friday, scoring two runs and striking out twice. Tyler has had a bit of an up-and-down winter -- hit or miss, if you will -- for the Tomateros de Culiacan. Overall he is hitting .278 (25-for-90) with five doubles and two triples. But Graham's K/BB ratio of 17/3 is pretty alarming for a leadoff hitter.

VENEZUELAN WINTER LEAGUE

Hector Sanchez was back in the DH spot on Friday, still hitting cleanup for the Tiburones de La Guaira. Sanchez collected yet another hit in three trips to the plate, driving in one run, walking twice and striking out twice. Since returning from whatever ailment kept him out of the lineup for the better part of two weeks, the young native of Maracay, Venezuela has hit safely in four straight games while collecting seven hits. For the season, Hector is hitting .417 (15-for-36) with a double and a home run.

Ehire Adrianza got the start on Friday for the Tiburones. While batting ninth and playing short, Adrianza went 2-for-3 with a double, a run scored and a walk. The young infielder, considered by most to have a great glove and a not-so-good bat, has made the most so far of limited opportunities in Venezuela, hitting .450 (9-for-20) with two doubles in only six appearances.

Hitting cleanup and playing first base for the Bravos de Margarita on Friday was Max Ramirez. Max went 1-for-4 with a strikeout. On the year, the 27-year-old has appeared in 17 games, hitting .262 (16-for-61) with five doubles and two home runs.

Alberth Martinez, a 20-year-old from San Felix, Venezuela, has seen very limited action for the Navegantes del Magallanes this winter. The young outfielder is 4-for-8 with a run scored and a strikeout in four appearances.

Edwin Escobar has appeared in four games this winter for the Cardenales de Lara, starting two games. The 19-year-old southpaw has hurled 7 innings, allowing seven hits and four runs (three earned). Escobar has walked four and struck out three while posting an ERA of 3.86.

Jean Machi has made eight relief appearances for the Navegantes del Magallanes this winter. The 29-year-old native of El Tigre, Venezuela has pitched 8.2 innings, notching four saves while surrendering six hits and three runs (one earned). Machi has allowed only one free pass and has struck out eight, posting an ERA of 1.04.
