The Augusta GreenJackets have had five pitchers named to the South Atlantic League All-Star team, as announced by the South Atlantic League on Wednesday.
Henry Sosa, the league’s ERA leader at 0.67, headlines the invitees. He will be joined by Kevin Pucetas (1.55 ERA, 3rd in the league), Adam Cowart (1.96 ERA, 4th in the league) and Clayton Tanner (2.22 ERA, 8th in the league) as starting pitchers. They will also be joined by Juan Trinidad, the Augusta closer who is co-leader of the South Atlantic League in saves with 11.
Augusta’s five All-Stars are tied for the second most by any team, along with the Lake County Captains and the Lakewood Blueclaws. The Asheville tourists will be sending the most to the game with seven. Augusta’s pitchers will make up five of the twelve pitchers on the South division pitching staff.
Notably, another GreenJacket pitcher was left off the team, Ben Snyder, who is 6th in the league in ERA with a 2.14 mark, and 4th in the league in strikeouts with 63.
The South Atlantic League All-Star Game will be held in Rome on June 19th, pitting the top players from the Northern division against the Southern division.
