Errors start bothering the farm system. It doesn't cost everyone a win, but it comes close. Plus, the hot hitters and cold pitchers might surprise you. It's Just Another Night in the Minors!

Fresno Grizzlies: Fresno 10, Las Vegas 6 (Click to see Box Score)

Lines of the day:

RF Nate Schierholtz - 3-4, 1 R, 2 2B (11), 4 RBI
LF Dan Ortmeier - 1-4, 1 R, 1 2B (6), 1 RBI, 2 SO
1B Chad Santos - 2-3, 2 R, 1 HR (2), 2 RBI, 1 BB, 1 SO
CF Fred Lewis - 2-4, 1 R, 1 2B (7)
RP Brian Wilson - 1 IP, 2 H, 4 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 0 K, 1 WP

Fresno nearly got into trouble in what should have been a blowout. With Fresno leading 10-2, Wilson, coming off of a disabled list stint, got a groundball to start the eighth inning but the runner got on thanks to an error. With one out, that runner scored unearned on a sacrifice fly. Wilson then gave up a double and a triple, and another error let a total of four runs score, all unearned.

Wilson's return was less than stellar. Despite the runs being unearned, giving up two extra-base hits in any circumstance is bad. Schierholtz has a six game hitting streak, with all but one of those games being multi-hit games, and only one not having an extra-base hit. His average is back up to .336.

Connecticut Defenders: Connecticut 4, Reading 3 (Click to see Box Score)

Lines of the day:

RF John Bowker - 3-4, 1 R, 1 2B (3), 1 3B (2), 2 RBI
SS Mark Minicozzi - 1-4, 1 2B (1), 1 RBI
SP Geno Espineli - 4 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 4 K, 1 HR
RP Brian Anderson - 1 1-3, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 K, S (4)

The Defenders found their way into the win column with a tough game. The Defenders were up 4-1 in the eighth when Alex Hinshaw came in to pitch. Hinshaw gave up a walk and a single, and with two out Anderson relieved him. Anderson gave up a double to score both runners, but got out of the inning. Anderson pitched a perfect ninth to end the game.

Bowker continues to be the hottest all-around hitter, gathering 10 hits in his last 25 at-bats, with two doubles, a triple and a home run. Minicozzi picked up his first extra-base hit in five games since his arrival in the lineup, and has hits in three games since going hitless in his first two. Anderson got the save despite giving up two unearned runs.

San Jose Giants: Bakersfield 2, San Jose 0 (Click to see Box Score)

Lines of the day:

C Pablo Sandoval - 1-4, 1 SO
RF Mike Mooney - 1-4, 2 SO
CF Antoan Richardson - 0-3, 1 BB
SP Gregorio Martinez - 5 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 6 BB, 3 K, 1 BK
RP David Quinowski - 2 IP, 0 H, 1 R, 0 ER, 2 BB, 2 K, 1 E, L (0-1)
RP Kelvin Pichardo - 1 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 0 BB, 2K

San Jose finally met a pitcher's duel it couldn't win. Bakersfield starting pitcher Ronald Bay limited San Jose to just three hits. Quinowski didn't give up a hit, but in his second inning of work, he gave up a two out walk, and an error by left fielder Alex Requena let an unearned run come in.

Antoan Richardson's 13-game hitting streak came to an end, though he got on base with a walk. Quinowski had a solid relief outing, but has increased his walk total to seven in 17 1/3 innings. Pichardo has been overwhelming at times, but he's allowed runs in three of his five last outings.
