Lance Nierko extends his hitting streak to nine games with a single in the bottom of the ninth. Since Carlos Valderrama has retured to the Grizzlies, he has hit safely in every game. Grizzlies catcher, Keith Anderson, has been placed on the disabled list with a strained lower back.

Game Notes:
In the ninth inning, With two out and the score at 1-1, Marco Pernalete singled in Michael Cervenak with the go-ahead and game-winning run. Carlos Mendoza was place on the disabled list with a sore right foot on Friday. He has been replaced by infielder, Anthony LaBarbera (promoted from Salem-Keizer). Jamie Athas was taken out of the game in the fourth, there is no official word on why.

Game Notes:
San Jose received a solid relief effort from Ben Washburn and Brian Burress who only allowed one earned run in four combined innings of work. Zach Strong and Tyler Von Schell each had a good game for the Giants. Strong went 2-for-2, hitting his tenth double. Von Schell hit his second homer of the season, going 2-for-4 in the game.

Three Hagerstown Suns pitchers combined to shut out the Kannapolis Intimidators - Brian Stirm, Jason Waddell, and Matt Palmer. Through the game, they only allowed three hits.

Game Notes:
The Volcanoes left 12 runners on base. They had two opportunities, as the bases were loaded and only one out, but they failed to score. Jesse Floyd is the pitcher of the week in the Northwest League. The right-hander is 2-0 in two starts with a 1.50 ERA, including 11 strikeouts and two walks in 12 innings. Travis Ishikawa missed his third straight game with a bruised right heel.
