Jason Ellison led off the game with a home run, his second of the season. Todd Linden continues his hitting streak with his 17th double of the season. Lance Nierko also continues to stay hot in June, going 3-5 maintaining a .308 AVG.

Kevin Correia balked home what proved to be the winning run in Brett Roneberg in the 2nd inning. Michael Cervenak (.263 AVG) has extended his hitting streak to twelve games, as Alejandro Freire (.321 AVG) extended his to eight. Both each went 1-4.

Daniel Ortmeier went 1-4 in today's game, his one hit being a two-run homer. Justin Knoelder, Derin McMains, and Zach Strong each got two hits. Knoedler brought in two runs with a double. The only player to not go hitless was first baseman Tyler Von Schell.

Carlos Sosa, who went 4-2, hit his second homer of the season. It was a two-run shot to right against Lexington southpaw Aaron Heitzman. The bullpen suffered a rare meltdown, as Erick Threets started off the seventh inning walking four straight Legends.

Floyd picks up his first win, throwing six scoreless winnings, allowing seven hits. Michael Wagner, Aaron Hornostaj, and Brad Vericker each homered for the Volcanoes. Hornostaj hit an first inside-the-park home run in the seventh - the first inside-the-park homer in team history. The Volcanoes are now a game ahead of the Eugene Emeralds, as the Emeralds have dropped their fifth straight game.
