DOMINICAN WINTER LEAGUE

Osiris Matos dropped is ERA to a paltry 1.08 Wednesday, hurling 1.2 scoreless innings while allowing just one base runner and striking out a batter for the Toros del Este. The 27-year-old right-hander is largely considered a non-prospect at this point, having pitched for nine seasons in the minors. However, Matos also pitched well in 2011 out of the 'pen, posting a 2.70 ERA and a WHIP of 1.13 in 53.1 innings for four different Giants affiliates. The native of Santo Domingo should start 2012 with Fresno, and could very well find himself making a big league appearance at some point during the season if he continues to pitch this well.

Juan Perez went 0-for-2 with a whiff Wednesday, dropping his average to .295 (36-for-122) before being lifted for a pinch hitter. The native of the DR has been cold of late, collecting only six hits in his last eight contests, and striking out seven times in his last six games.

MEXICAN PACIFIC LEAGUE

Tyler Graham's nine-game hit streak came to an end Wednesday. Graham went 0-for-4 with a walk and two strikeouts for the Tomateros, dropping his average to .275 (50-for-182).

VENEZUELAN WINTER LEAGUE

Hector Sanchez got a couple at-bats for the Tiburones de La Guaira Wednesday, driving a two-bagger in one of them and plating three runs. Sanchez continues to hover around the .400 mark for the winter, hitting .395 (45-for-114) with six doubles, six homers and 27 RBI in just 33 games.

Edwin Escobar tossed 2.1 innings Wednesday, allowing a run on one hit and a walk for the Cardenales de Lara. The 19-year-old lefty has posted an ERA of 4.76 in eight games in the VWL.

AUSTRALIAN BASEBALL LEAGUE

No action to report in the ABL.

PUERTO RICAN WINTER LEAGUE

Johnny Monell got a somewhat rare start behind the dish Wednesday for the Criollos de Caguas, going 0-for-4 with a strikeout and dropping his average to .290 (9-for-31).

Andres Torres is getting some work in this winter, having played in three games now for the Indios de Mayaguez. Torres did not play Wednesday, however. The 33-year-old Puerto Rico native is hitting .273 (3-for-11) with a double, two walks and five strikeouts.
