ARIZONA FALL LEAGUE - Scottsdale 1, Mesa 4
Daryl Maday and the Scorpions faced off against 2011 top overall pick Gerrit Cole and the Mesa Solar Sox on Thursday. The Scorps had Brandon Crawford back in the lineup for the first time since Saturday. Joe Panik played as well. Gary Brown, however, was given the day off.
Maday, after giving up a leadoff home run, settled in nicely, retiring 10 of the next 11 batters he faced. The big right hander went four innings, allowing four hits and two runs. Maday did not walk a batter, and struck out three. Despite pitching pretty well, Daryl was saddled with the loss. He's now 1-2 with a 4.91 ERA.
Cole, the highly-touted prospect for the Pittsburgh Pirates, broke 100 on the radar gun five times in the first inning, touching 101 once. The 21-year-old pitched three innings, allowing two hits and a walk while striking out three. Impressive.
Crawford, perhaps shaking off a little rust, went 1-for-4 with a strikeout. The silky smooth shortstop is now hitting .345 (10-for-29) on the season, good enough for the team lead.
Joe Panik is now hitting .212 (7-for-33) in AFL action after going 1-for-3 with a walk.

DOMINICAN WINTER LEAGUE
The DWL had the night off last night, nothing to report.
MEXICAN PACIFIC LEAGUE
Tyler Graham had a tough night, going 0-for-4 in a 6-2 loss for the Tomateros. Graham's average for the year is now an even .250.
Hector Sanchez continues to roll for the Tiburones. Hector went 2-for-5 with a run, a double and one strikeout and has hit safely in every game he has played so far, including three multi-hit games. One downside of being on fire -- the young catcher actually lowered his batting average to .421 (8-for-19).
Ehire Adrianza got a rare start at shortstop for the Tiburones, only his second game of the season. The 22-year-old infielder, known mostly for his excellent defense, went 3-for-3 with three singles and is hitting .571 (4-for-7) in limited appearances.
